About this place ...
Sorede
A desirable Alberes village close to Argeles and Collioure. Sorede is quite popular with expates, both families and retirees. It benefits from having some nice restaurants and cafés in the centre as well as a few local shops. Easy access to hiking and mountain-biking in the Alberes hills nearby. There is a wide choice of property in the village, ranging from old, stone village houses to 1980's villas and some quite large houses with large sections.
Sorede also includes the "Happy Valley", a ravine running into the mountains with a number of quirky houses, many of which are owned by northern-Europeans. It has a rustic, hippy feel but is in the shade outside the summer months.
Positives
Considerations
Good restaurants. A lively village centre. Nice properties. Close to the coast but not touristy.
It does have a fair number of campsites. The village is divided by a ravine which makes getting around it a bit difficult.
