Littoral

Coastal towns with sandy beachfronts. A mixture of old fishing villages and modern resorts.

Littoral

These beach resorts were all created in the 20th century and are attached to old villages set back from the coast. The old villages tend to be more active year-round than the resorts. The area is traditionally popular with second-home owners but has a growing resident population of retirees and young families.

Positives

Close to the sandy beaches with safe swimming and beach-bars in summer. Good bus services. Lots of cycle tracks. Lots of events, activities, cafés and restaurants in the summer. Great sports facilities, especially swimming pools.

Considerations

High percentage of holiday homes and huge campsites mean that it is very touristy in summer but the beach resorts all partly close down out of season giving them an empty feel. Relatively high property prices close to the beach.
